The Role

Do you come from a background of managing projects in a corporate environment? Do you want to head up a new team responsible for managing the generation of our annual and long term plans and associated reporting cycles? 

The Business Planning Team Lead is responsible for the project management and development of the ten year plan (TYP) and the annual plans for the relevant planning cycles. The role is also responsible for the ongoing development of the planning, monitoring and reporting framework for all annual business planning and work programming activities and the co-ordination and integration of all these activities in order to drive greater accountability for delivery, better visibility of progress against plans and improved risk management across the organisational portfolio of work programmes.

About You

To be successful, you should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a relevant discipline
  • Recognised Project Management certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, Agile)
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning, managing and delivery of corporate projects using a project management methodology 
  • Experience in a similar role, focused on leading a team for organisation performance and business planning responsibilities
  • Relevant experience in a Local Government setting and an understanding of the requirements of the Local Government Act and other guiding legislation for the public sector with New Zealand would be warmly received
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining relationships across a broad range of functions at every level of the organisation
  • Experience of presenting to senior leaders of an organisation
  • Excellent communicator, adaptable style to be effective at all levels of an organisation
  • A highly motivated, achievement-oriented and innovative approach
