The Role

We are seeking a motivated Holiday Programme Supervisor to join our Wanaka team for ongoing New Zealand school holidays engagements.  This would see you working 16 hours per week during these holiday periods.

The Holiday Programme Supervisor provides superior service and on-going support to all holiday programmes to ensure participants have an enjoyable and safe experience. You must ensure an outstanding level of proactive, friendly service and satisfaction is achieved at all times with program participants and crew. 

You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and enjoyable delivery of programmes by providing active preventative supervision of the activities of all customers. This is to be achieved through the control of programme activities by the enforcement of rules, policies and preventative actions that minimize or remove any hazards.

To be successful in your application you will have/be able to demonstrate: 

  • A current NZQA affiliated First Aid Certificate. Unit standards 26551 & 26552 (preferable).
  • High School NCEA or Bursary (minimum level of education required)
  • Experience in the supervision of recreation activities, control of the public, and coaching kids
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Display excellent communication and behaviour management skills with children 
  • Use their initiative, lead by example, and have energy and passion for working with children aged 5-12 years old

Successful applicants would need to be available for flexible shifts. Hours are rostered from 7.45 am to 5.30 pm during the school holidays. 

Note – applicants will be asked to complete a Police Check. Queenstown Lakes District Council takes its child safety and child protection responsibilities seriously. Recruitment is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Vulnerable Children Act (2014).
